Festivals around the world

Gosh, I love a festival! There are so many fabulous ones across the UK - we try and go to a few local ones every year but if you are planning a holiday why not check to see whether there are any cool festivals happening? You'll find many this year across France and Spain - click here for some great destinations you could choose to stay at. 

 

Here are a few from Europe:

GRAND FAUCONNIER MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL, CORDES SUR CIEL, France

This festival runs every July, and people from all over France come to see the transformation of the city Cordes into a town from the Middle Ages.

 

At this two day festival you can watch jugglers, street performers, listen to the music eat great food and watch parades through the city. There is also a Medieval market square!

Blaines Firework Festival, Spain

This fabulous six-day fireworks festival “El Focs de Blanes” or “Concurs Internacional de Focs” – will once again take place in Blanes on the Costa Brava, Spain in July.

 

Blanes has gorgeous sandy beaches so it's a great spot for a holiday.

The focal point for the firework shows is the Rock – Sa Palomera.

RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL IN KOPRIVNICA – CROATIA

Croatia's Renaissance Festival – takes place in the old town of Koprivnica this August.

The Renaissance Festival is the biggest spectacle related to the past in this area of Europe you'll see thousands of participants in costumes from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Russia and Poland will make you outstanding performances you’ll definitely remember.

 

 

FEIRA FRANCA, A MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL IN PONTEVEDRA, SPAIN

On the first weekend in September every year, step back in time in Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain for the medieval festival Feira Franca. The old cobbled streets and market squares create the perfect festival backdrop.

 

Tomorrowland, Boom, Belgium

Tomorrowland is one of the worlds largest music festivals. It takes place every July in the town Boom, between Antwerp and Brussels in Belgium.

It is so popular that tickets sell out in minutes!

 

Carnevale de Venezia — Venice
The Venice Carnival runs from the end of January until mid-February. The city is often transformed into something fantastical like a huge circus.

Dia de los Muertos
Dia de los Muertos also known as the Day of the Dead, runs from November 1-2, this tradition has been celebrated for thousands of years, tracing back to indigenous tribes in Mexico. It is now celebrated all over the world.
 
Coachella
Possibly one of the most popular festivals is Coachella festival which takes place in Indio, California, over two weekends every April. Top music stars headline here every year.
 
Holi
Holi festival is an ancient Hindu religious festival also known as the festival of colours  - it is now also celebrated by non-Hindu's all over the world. The festival involves throwing coloured powder and is a real sight to see. It takes place every Spring.
