Taking the stress out of moving house

[This is a collaborative post]

The thought of moving house actually brings me out in a cold sweat - I would love to move someday soon, just to give us a bit more space - but moving is very stressful! I have heard many people say: "Never again!"

Luckily for us, when we moved out of our rented flat 16 years ago, we didn't have far to go. We literally moved to the block of flats next door - this meant that we had help from family members to carry any big furniture across and everything else was boxed up and carried across by us gradually.

It is never easy when you live in a block of flats. There are often narrow corridors, heavy fire doors and stairwells to negotiate! Think Ross from Friends - "Pivot! Pivot!"

When we moved in to our current flat, it was just the two of us, we didn't have loads of things at the time a few bits of furniture and clothing and two big fish tanks. We had our first daughter 2 and half years later and since then we went on to have three children in total. With children comes stuff. Lots of stuff.

Our attic is jammed full of things, the cupboard under the stairs is fit to burst and we also have a cupboard in our corridor outside which is overflowing. Not to mention all of the furniture, toys, clothes and nick-nacks.

I know a lot of people do try and do the removals by themselves by hiring a van but I think for us we would much rather hand it over to the professionals when we do come to moving.

Companies such as a Movers and Packers Removal Services will do all the hard work for you, taking that extra stress away. I mean come on, moving house is stressful enough without having to think about the packing of all of your worldly belongings - right?

Also, from experience, some large furniture needs to be disassembled to get it through a door or round the corner of a tight space. These companies will often do this for you then reassemble it when you arrive at your new home.

If you are moving into your first home and only have a small amount of furniture and belongings to transport, you can always go for a man with a van to help you get from A to B. For bigger removals your furniture will be loaded onto larger trucks which have tail lifts to help. Everything will be taken care of with covers over to protect the goods from any damage.

Lets' face it, things like washing machines and other white goods are very heavy as are wardrobes. Having professionals with special trolleys do the heavy lifting is going to be a huge help.

Most companies will deliver anywhere within the UK so it really is worth getting a quote to see how much it will cost you, some are more affordable than you would think!
