Poppy Fields and Wild Flowers

I'm one of those people that dreams about finding an amazing place to take photographs.

It's almost that time of year when the local lavender fields will be glowing with a purple haze and within the next month I'm hoping to get to the sunflower fields too.

I love finding wheat and barley fields as they make such fantastic backdrops.

So, I've been trying to do some research to find a poppy field, as I had some great ideas in my head for pictures but it seems that the majority are in the west country.

But, luckily for me, a guy posted on our local Facebook page that there was one not too far away from home.

We had planned on going into Kent to find one, but now we could check it out on our weekly shop to Aldi!

This field is off of Mitchley Hill in Sanderstead, for those of you not local this is South Croydon - not to far from lots of concrete and large buildings.

It is literally just a field near Riddlesdown, there are a few places to pull over and park.

Watch out for stinging nettles and thistles, it probably wasn't the most sensible idea to have my girls dressed in dresses as I had to piggy back them through.

I have to say though, it was totally worth it.

Mayfield Lavender farm in Banstead is open now and is always popular with families. We're aiming to head down there is July.

Another place that has a wild flower meadow is Sheepleas in West Horsley, Surrey but keep your eyes open when you're out an about, it's amazing what hidden gems you will find tucked away.
