Shark DuoClean Vacuum Review

Dah-dum, dah-dum, dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum.... (think Jaws theme tune!)

We have a Shark! No I haven't gone mad and got a huge tank in my living room - we have a new vacuum cleaner.

Since our old hand-me-down Dyson gave up working a while back, I have taken to just sweeping the floors. But, this needs to be done twice a day to deal with all of the pet hair!

You see he have four cats, one of them is long haired and a Sprollie, technically not a furry dog - but boy does he moult and his hairs are course and tend to get stuck to everything, including our feet so we end up treading them around every room.

The main causers of my pet hair peril!

I have found sweeping up just doesn't do the trick anymore, this fur needs to be contained and I needed something powerful to deal with it.

Cue the Shark DuoClean Vacuum with Powered Lift-Away and a True Pet attachment for that stubborn pet hair. Shark launched a couple of new models with a unique feature called Shark anti-hair wrap technology (read a detailed review on vacuumcleaners4u), which is useful for tangle-free short, long, or human hair cleaning.

Being of a certain age (late 30's) the excitement of owning a new vacuum cleaner was unreal and I couldn't wait to test it out.

I am not the most technically minded person when it comes to reading instructions but I found the Shark very easy to use.

The first thing I tried out was the pet power brush attachment - our sofa is black and has a brushed suede sort of texture, most days it resembles a dirty lint roller. Oh wow, the satisfaction was instant. The amount of hair and dust it picked up was insane! I had usually resulted to brushing the hair off or using the bottom of a training shoe to try and make it look less hairy. Brilliant!

After one go!

Next the floor, we have laminate flooring throughout and tiles in the kitchen. The Shark moved around with ease on the hard floor setting. It's unique design includes two brush rolls in one vacuum head. The brush rolls work together to remove large and small particles and stuck on dust from carpets and hard floors with ease. I also loved the "headlights" the bottom part has LED lights so you can see clearly in those dark corners.

Kim and Aggie would have a field day!

Next the stairs, this is where the cats often choose to sleep - the powered Lift-Away works amazingly. The main unit easily detaches from the wand at the click of a button, turning your upright vacuum cleaner into a portable handheld vacuum cleaner.

Another great feature is the Shark’s Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology, which captures and holds over 99.9%* of dust and allergens inside the vacuum cleaner and not back into the air.

We don't have carpets anymore but the vacuum can go from hard floor to carpet with the dual control located on the handle. Also included are the Duster/Crevice tool allow for easy access to edges, tight spaces as well as dusting surfaces like tables and shelves.

The Pet Power Brush is fabulous at removing pet hair and dust from the sofa, it really has made a huge difference.

You can see in the dust cup just how much it picked up from the floors - pretty gross huh?!

Overall the Shark DuoClean is fantastic vacuum, I needn't feel embarrassed anymore about the state of our sofa and I would thoroughly recommend it to pet owners.

*We were kindly given this vacuum to test out by Shark - opinions are honest and my own*
